2014 JING Forum Opens at PKU

On September 15^th, 2014, Beijing Session of JING Forum opens at Yingjie Exchange Center of PKU. Under the auspices of PKU organizing committee, representatives and alumni from Peking University (PKU) and Tokyo University attended the opening ceremony.

JING Forum, the first student exchange program established by students between Peking University and Tokyo University, aims at enhancing mutual understanding and facing up to each others’ interests through communication and discussion among future elites and leaders of the two countries. Since the inception of forum, it endeavors to look at the national disputes and conflicts with open mind, establish mutual trust and friendship among young people of the two countries and lay a solid foundation for good momentum of bilateral relations. Besides, the results of forum discussion will have a social return, constructing a peaceful framework for common development of China and Japan.

Guan Litong, Secretary General of China-Japan Friendship Association, addressed the opening ceremony. In the speech Guan Litong reviewed the evolution of Sino-Japanese relations and spoke highly of JING Forum, expecting more student communication to be carried out between the two countries. Ku Yueqi, as one of the alumni representatives, shared his story at Beijing and expressed his view on the past, status quo and future development of JING Forum. He occasionally mentioned his beautiful memory at PKU and hoped to participate in this year’s activities as an alumnus of PKU. Then both Chinese and Japanese presidents of the forum delivered their keynote speeches respectively.

After the opening ceremony, attendees visited PKU campus and took a group photo in front of PKU library.

In the afternoon, three sections centering on youth, social responsibility and media were conducted in an orderly fashion. Both parties voiced their opinions based on different national conditions in China and Japan and through different formats such as document research, field visits and questionnaires.
