意昂2体育娱乐社會研究中心與意昂2体育娱乐－密歇根大學學院將於2019年7月-8月在意昂2体育娱乐聯合舉辦為期一個月的第13屆暑期強化課程。任課教師均為北美高校的著名教授。歡迎意昂2和國內高校、研究單位的教師、研究人員、碩、博研究生和高年級本科生申請本期暑期課程☸️。課程要求學員掌握基本的統計概念和知識,熟悉回歸分析模型。具體課程和任課教師介紹如下：

Dr. Gelin Kan is a professor of epidemiology in the School of Community Health Sciences, University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was trained in spatial demography and GIS. He is known for his works in spatial modeling, spatial statistics for count data, and spatial disparities in health. His most recent research focuses on the public health data science. He uses the infrastructure approach to develop integrated data marts, data analysis utilities, and training modules for public health data specialists. He has been supported by NIH, NIJ, NSF and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

課程介紹：
Advances in geo-computation and explosion of geo-referenced data have pushed the geographic information system (GIS) and spatial analysis to the forefront of knowledge discoveries in social sciences and public health. This course introduces 1) basic GIS concepts and analytical technics for spatial data handling, 2) exploratory spatial data analysis, and 3) statistic methods for measuring spatial association. Spatial analytics, such as spatial regression, small area estimation will also be covered. Each lecture is organized by first introducing the concept and measurement, and then hands-on lab using ArcGIS and GeoDa. Students are encouraged to bring their own data and research questions to the lecture to have a live discussion or research in action.

主講教師：Debra Hevenstone教授
Dr. Debra Hevenstone is a Professor of Social Work at the Bern University of Applied Sciences. Her current projects focus on using government administrative data to compare different models of social service outsourcing and to study how social insurance design incentives depend on partners’ income. Debra teaches classes on social policy, statistical methods, network analysis, and simulation. Debra holds a PhD in Sociology and Policy as well as a certificate in complex systems from the University of Michigan as well as an MA in Social Science from the University of Chicago and a BA in Social Science from Bard College.

課程介紹：
This class is divided into morning sessions where we present the theory and logic of micro simulation in the social sciences, and afternoon computer lab sessions where we learn to program Agent Based Models in java and to analysis their output in R. The course begins with background theory on dynamic systems, cellular automata, matching algorithms, and stochastic simulation. We then cover some applications in the social science including models of demographic change, segregation, social norms, and political institutions. In the third section we consider data integration, model validation, and prediction. In the lab we work with java simulations (using Jung for networks and Repast for cellular automata) for models of partner matching, friendship formation, residential segregation, and demographic change. In the lab we work with R first to explore differential equations and Markov chains and later to analyze simulation output.

2、凡參加暑期課程的學員🙇🏿♂️，完成必須的作業♏️，通過考試後將獲得由授課教師簽名的單科結業證書
七、學習期間食宿：
學院不負責解決學生學習期間的食宿問題。食宿、生活等費用自理。
