演講簡介：I went into science drawn by the desire to do transformative rather than incremental work. I attribute my success to choosing projects having high potential “bang for the buck” that few others have identified as such, and moving on to new challenges when the field grows too crowded. I will describe how this strategy has led to a career of both successes and failures, but always filled with fun, excitement, and hope.

個人簡介：埃裏克•白茲格（Eric Betzig）1960年出生於美國密歇根州的安娜堡👨🏻‍🦼‍➡️。白茲格在加州理工學院學習物理𓀚，並於1983年獲得了學士學位👩‍🦯。此後他繼續在康奈爾大學學習，分別於1985年和1988年獲得應用物理學碩士和工程物理學博士學位。獲得博士學位後，白茲格就職於貝爾實驗室半導體物理研究部。白茲格2006年加入了霍華德•休斯醫學研究所的珍利亞農場任研究園區組長👰🏻，開發超高分辨率的熒光顯微鏡技術。2014年白茲格因“研製出超分辨率螢光顯微鏡”與斯特凡•W•黑爾🫸🏽、W•E•莫納共同獲得諾貝爾化學獎。他所獲得的其他重要獎項包括威廉•麥克米蘭獎及美國國家科學院的研究倡議科學獎。
